Sample Representativeness in a Three-Generation Study of Mexican Americans

Abstract
Older Mexican Americans who are members of three-generation families in the San Antonio area are compared with other elderly on a number of demographic and socioeconomic characteristics. It is found that members were more fertile, had married and had children at a younger age, and were of slightly lower socioeconomic status. However, elderly members of three-generation families constitute a sizable proportion of San Antonio's elderly Mexican-American population, thus minimizing problems in the study's generalizability.
