A Review of Seven Years' Experience with Excision and Graft Replacement in 150 Ruptured and Unruptured Aneurysms of the Abdominal Aorta

Abstract
SUCCESSFUL excision of formidable vascular lesions, with replacement by a graft or prosthesis, has prompted surgeons to attack acute catastrophic vascular emergencies with increasing vigor during the past decade. In our experience of excision and grafting of 150 abdominal aneurysms we have treated 26 patients with frank rupture of their aneurysms, and it is our purpose to report these problems.We consider rupture the culmination of the life history of an aortic aneurysm, and a challenge to discover and excise these aortic lesions before rupture faces the medical profession.
