Abstract
High explosives have been employed to generate intense shock waves in Perspex and from the measurements made of the shock and free surface velocities the 'Hugoniot' equation of state has been determined within the pressure range from 3 to 13 × 1010 dynes cm−2. The results fit an equation of an inverted Bridgman type. Graphs are given of the variation of pressure, shock and particle velocity with Perspex thickness. Keywords
