THE AMOUNT OF ASCORBIC ACID EXCRETED AT EACH URINATION DURING TWENTY-FOUR-HOUR PERIODS

Abstract
The vol. of urine and its ascorbic acid content were detd. for each urination throughout the 24-hr. period in 2 subjects over a series of days. There was no correlation between the urine vols. and their ascorbic acid content. Since the amt. of ascorbic acid excreted during specified 6-hr. periods varied greatly as compared with the total 24-hr. excretion the use of a 6-hr. collection period for determining "resting level" may be questioned. During 10 days, the ascorbic acid balance was sometimes negative.
