Abstract
HeLa cell cultures grown on plastic and glass surfaces were irradiated with 76 kv X-rays. Single-cell colony survival curves indicated absorbed dose differences caused by scatter from dish materials. The correction factor combining scatter and conversion from roentgen to rad units for cells irradiated on Pyrex glass is 1.42 [plus or minus] 0.07 and for polyvinyl chloride plastic is 1.72 [plus or minus] 0.28, both compared to polystyrene plastic which is equivalent to soft tissue or medium. Keywords
