Abstract
A photonic integrated 2 × 2 WDM cross-connect switch which provides full access to eight wavelength channels has been designed and fabricated in silica on silicon substrate. The switch consists of two novel 2 × N phased-array waveguide gratings which are connected by a thermo-optic switch array with no waveguide crossing. The crosstalk for the cross and bar states is better than –20 and –15 dB, respectively, with a fibre-to-fibre insertion loss of <13 dB.Keywords
