Effects of Contrast Media on Circulating Blood Volume

Abstract
Changes in circulating blood volume following injection of different contrast media [iothalamate, metrizamide, and ioxaglate] at different sites was measured in the dog. Osmoreceptors in right atrium played a role in blood volume changes following injection of contrast medium. Differential response to individual agents was mainly a function of their osmolality. Atropine appeared to moderate changes.
