Abstract
The Enskog theory for a dense fluid of rigid disks is developed. The collisional contribution, which dominates in liquids, is derived and added to the kinetic term, which describes a dilute gas. Expressions for shear and bulk viscosity and for thermal conductivity are obtained. The initial correlations are evaluated via the autocorrelation function approach, and the exponentially decaying functions which result are related to the Enskog theory. Keywords
