The preparation of galacturonic acid from plant materials, with a note on some of its derivatives

Abstract

Materials used for preparation of the acid were sugar beet residues, apple pomace, and lemon peel; the last gave the most satisfactory yields. The methods of preparation and properties of cinchonine d-galacturonate and phenylhydrazine d-galacturonate are given.
