Abstract
Uric acid is quantitatively oxidized by blood within 48 hrs. at 37[degree]. Stromata and blood plasma are inactive in this respect. Hemoglobin is most probably the uricolytic agent present in blood. The products of uricolysis in blood are allantoin, urea and ammonia; the reaction is inhibited by propyl and butyl alcohols, but not by cyanides. The reaction is one of true oxidation, and not of dehydrogenation. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
