Abstract
A new semiclassical method for calculating the galvanomagnetic tensor is presented; it allows for the inclusion of magnetic-breakdown effects, i.e., the possibility of coupled orbits is explicitly taken into account. Results of calculations for several cases based on various models of the Fermi-surface topology are given; they include most of the cases of physical interest regarding changes in the connectivity of the orbits. It is shown that in the very high-field region there exists an extra relaxation mechanism due to magnetic breakdown, which is a function of the energy gap. Keywords
