An Improved Synthesis of the Aranorosin Nucleus

Abstract
An improved synthesis of the tetracyclic aranorosin nucleus (2) is described proceeding via an unusually stable ozonide (1,2,4-trioxolane), in the key step. The structure of (2) has been confirmed by X-ray crystallography.
