Abstract
Laminar -turbulent transitions were detected experimentally by direct visualization, high-speed cinematographic observation of a rapidly injected bolus of dye, visualization of dye streamlines and pressure-flow plots. On the grounds of both experimental case and reproducibility the use of dye streamline with increasing flow rates is recommended. The fluid must first be allowed to come to thermal equilibrium and rest. Under slightly different experimental conditions, transition was observed at mean Reynolds'' numbers as low as 2120 to as high as 2990.Keywords
