Abstract
Antinucleolar antibodies were found in 203 (8.3 per cent) of 2449 patients suspected clinically of having a rheumatic syndrome. Antinuclear antibodies were present in 577 (23.6 per cent). Of 18 (0.7 per cent) with only antinucleolar antibodies the 12 with the highest titer had systemic sclerosis. Thirteen (54 per cent) of 24 with clinically apparent systemic sclerosis had these antibodies, whereas 26 per cent with systemic lupus erythematosus, and only 9 per cent with rheumatoid arthritis, possessed the same factor. Keywords
