Abstract
David Young argues that although doctors are interested and willing to use computers, in general they do not use them in health care. It is a complex matter, but an important reason is that the system designers have ignored the clinical environment and the motivation of doctors. In particular the conventional approach to data input is inappropriate, and he suggests a better way.
