Deep-Inelastice−pAsymmetry Measurements and Comparison with the Bjorken Sum Rule and Models of Proton Spin Structure

Abstract

We report new measurements of the asymmetry in the deep-inelastic scattering of longitudinally polarized electrons by longitudinally polarized protons in the kinematic range $2<~\omega <~10$, $1<~Q^2<~4$ ${(\mathrm{G}\mathrm{e}\mathrm{V}/\mathit{c})}^2$, and $2<~W<~4$ GeV. We compare our results with the Bjorken sum rule and with several theoretical models of the internal spin structure of the proton.
