ADRENAL MEDULLARY INSUFFICIENCY IN SEVERE THERMAL BURN *

Abstract
The urine and adrenals of 14 burned patients who died were assayed for adrenaline and noradrenaline. Approximately 2/3 of these burned patients showed at death a subnormal adrenaline output and a low adrenaline content of the adrenal gland, a condition commensurate with acute adrenal medullary insufficiency.Keywords
