Electroactive Properties of Polyaromatic Molecules

Abstract
Electroactive and electrochromic films of electropolymerized polyazulene and polythiophene have been found to be surprisingly insensitive to common solvents and temperature. As electrodes in all‐organic batteries these thin polymeric films allow current densities of 2 mA/cm2 at open‐circuit voltages of 2.3V. The electrochromic properties suggest application in electro‐optical displays.
