Abstract
Gynodioecism is established is the breeding system of the three indigenous species of Cortaderia. The frequencies for sex form in C. richardin vary among populations, the functionally female plants being 24-53%. however in one sample from South Cantenbury all plants were hermaphrodite. In one sample of C. fulvida 36% of the plants were female. Cortaderia richardin hermaphrodite are self-fertile.Keywords
