Conjugative plasmids of Escherichia coli can mobilize DNA transmission from this bacterium to the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The process shares some of the features of conjugation between bacteria and could be evolutionarily significant in promoting trans-kingdom genetic exchange. Keywords
