The Effect of Ionizing Radiation on Amino Acids: III. The Effect of Electron Irradiation on Aqueous Solutions of Glycine

Abstract
O2 -free and O2 -saturated 1 [image] solutions of glycine were irradiated with 50 KV X-rays at a dose rate of 1.6 x 103 rep/minute and with 160 KV electrons at a dose rate of 2.5 x 106 rep/minute. It is concluded from a comparison of the dose-yield data obtained from the various products that the initial radiation-induced reactions are the same for both irradiations. However, the role of subsequent reactions is of more importance at the lower dose rate.
