Abstract
The authors have calculated the cross section for the absorption of optical radiation in AgBr:I by extending previous calculations for GaP:N; the contribution of phonon-assisted transitions is taken into account and the experimental valence density of states is used. They show that previously neglected interference effects are necessary for explaining the experimental data on AgBr:I.Keywords
