PARENCHYMATOUS CORTICAL CEREBELLAR ATROPHY ASSOCIATED WITH PICKʼS DISEASE

Abstract
The authors report a case of parenchymatous cortical cerebellar atrophy with loss of Purkinje cells. This was combined with practically complete disappearance of nerve cells in the rostral 3/4 of the inferior olivary nucleus. The atrophic changes in the cerebellum were associated with similar alterations in certain parts of the cerebrum where they were interpreted as those of Pick''s disease. Some features of the clinical history suggested that the condition was familial.
