Abstract
Many mobility models have been proposed for the simulation of mobile ad hoc networking applications. However, none of the existing models integrates the sociological dimension of user movement. The mobility of a mobile user is highly influenced by his relationships to other users and, thus, by the social network he is embedded in. Therefore, we propose a social mobility model that takes an arbitrarily shaped model of a social network and turns it into a simulation that reflects the relationships between users and their probability to interact. In this paper we motivate the need for social mobility models and we sketch the algorithm that creates the simulation1.
