Amorphous clay minerals of recent volcanic ash soils in hokkaido (i)

Abstract
It is well-known that the early weathering stage of volcanic ash soils is characterized by a relatively abundant supply of bases and silica because of volcanic ash weathering. Therefore, it is assumed that amorphous clay minerals formed in this stage are more or less different in composition and properties from those found in highly weathered volcanic ash soils.
