Computed Tomography of Intrathoracic Omental Herniation and Other Mediastinal Fatty Masses

Abstract

Computed tomography (CT) is a useful modality for assessing fatty masses in the mediastinum. A case is presented in which a large mediastinal mass was shown by CT scan to be periesophageal and composed entirely of fat. Surgery demonstrated omental herniation without visceral herniation.
