Abstract
The L4 strain of pleuropneumonia-like organism produces in rats an arthritis which has been used as a method of evaluating various therapeutic agents. Cortisone failed to prevent the development of the polyarthritis of rats when its admn. was begun on the day of infection, or to effect improvement when given therapeutically. The animals receiving cortisone gained less wt. than the unmedicated controls. Terramycin given in 0.3% in the diet prevented the development and 0.3% in the drinking water favorably altered the course of the rat polyarthritis. Keywords
