On the fundamental nature of vitamin D action

Abstract

Evidence has been adduced to show that the probable mode of action of vitamin D in the cure and prevention of rickets is by the setting free of inorganic phosphate from the lipins of the body, the relative deficiency of which is regarded as the essential cause of rickets.
