In "skin window" experiments, the appearance of multilobed nuclei in neutrophiles (progressive shift to the right) in the exudate was observed in acute infections, drug induced leukopenia, myeloid and lymphatic leukemia and pernicious anemia. Neutrophiles with ring shaped nuclei were noted in the blood and exudate of a patient with erythroleukemia.
