Centric fusion polymorphism in Romney Marsh sheep of England

Abstract
A chromosome survey is described of 158 sheep of the Romney Marsh or Kent breed in England. A Robert sonian translocation was found and identified by G-banding as identical to the t1 described only in New Zealand Romney sheep. It was present in three of five flocks sampled. Both heterozygous animals and a homozygous animal were identified and these findings are discussed in relation to their possible use in understand ing the overall significance of such translocations in domestic sheep.
