Collections of Subdural Fluid Complicating Meningitis Due toHaemophilus influenzae(Type B)

Abstract
THE incidence of recovery from acute bacterial meningitis has risen sharply since the introduction of modern antibiotic therapy. With this rise various untoward sequelae have become evident in patients who formerly would not have survived. It is the purpose of this preliminary report to describe the occurrence of collections of xanthochromic subdural fluid of high protein content, most of which are encapsulated, in infants and small children surviving the acute phase of meningitis due to Haemophilus influenzae (Type B).
