Über die Verschiedenheit von Cellulase und Lichenase 1. Mitteilung über den enzymatischen Abbau polymerer Kohlenhydrate

Abstract
Two enzyme materials were investigated. 1. The commercial preparation "Luicym," which was obtained from Aspergillus oryzae. 2. Digestive juices of Helix pomatia. Using 0.2-0.4% cellobiose soln., 0.3% lichenin soln., and 100 mg. of cuprophane as substrates, it was found that the optimum pH for "Luicym" cellulase was 4.7, for the lichenase, 5.9, while the corresponding optimum pH for both enzymes of Helix juices was 5.2-5.4. The dialyzed enzyme solns. of "Luicym" were subjected to fractionating alcohol-ether precipitations. The sequence in which the enzymes were precipitated was: lichenase, cellulase, cellobiase. Within limits, constant factors could be used to calculate the activity of increasing amts. of the "Luicym" prep.
