Abstract
Conflicting formulas for the dielectric constant of a dipolar solid proposed by Frölich and Harris have been critically examined. However, if certain statistical mechanical averages are correctly interpreted, it is shown that Harris' formula reduces to a special case treated by Frölich.Keywords
