Abstract
Potometer experiments with leaves of Ficus elastica show that outflow of the latex causes an increase in the rate of water uptake. This indicates an increase in the suction pressure of the cells of the leaf. The increase is progressively smaller at subsequent bleedings. The nature of the phenomenon is briefly discussed. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
