Abstract
The mixture of saturated branched fatty acids from the lipids of human blood plasma and liver were separated by preparative gas chromatography. The main component (76% in serum) of one fraction was identified as phytanic acid (3,7,11,15-tetramethyl-hexadecanoic acid) by gas chromatography. Possible modes of formation of this acid from phytol in the organism are discussed.This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
