Cultural Control of Overwintering Bollworm and Tobacco Budworm12

Abstract
Listing, disking, and relisting the land with modern tractor-mounted equipment following cotton harvest plus a preplantlng irrigation gave 100% control of overwintering bollworms, Heliothts zea (Boddte) and tobacco budworms, H. virescens (F.). In a pepper field, emergence of bollworm moths from diapausing pupae was reduced about 55% by listing the land. About 73% of the tobacco budworms emerged in March, and about 65% of the bollworms in April.
