Vibrational Assignment of Anthracene-d10 from the Fluorescence and Absorption Spectra

Abstract

The fluorescence and absorption spectra of anthracene‐d₁₀ in a fluorene matrix at 4.2°K have been measured and analyzed. In the ground electronic state seven a_g and two $b_{\text{3g}}$ fundamentals have been assigned, while in the first‐excited electronic state (¹B_1u) six a_g and four $b_{\text{3g}}$ fundamentals were located. Other possible fundamentals are indicated. Earlier data concerning a_g and $b_{\text{3g}}$ fundamentals of anthracene‐h₁₀ are critically reviewed and compared with the present results.
