Measurement of the distribution of surface electric charge by use of a capacitive probe

Abstract

A concentric, guarded probe assembly suitable for measurements of the distribution of static electric charge density on dielectric surfaces is described. The procedure for calibrating the probe is given. Application of the device is illustrated by studies of the density of electric charge on a perspex surface.
