Abstract
From (chloromethyl)silane and trimethylphosphine a phosphonium salt [(CH3)3P–CH2SiH3]Cl is obtained, which can be converted into the ylide (CH3)3P=CHSiH3 upon transylidation with (CH3)3P = CH2. The silyl ylide is thermally unstable and looses hydrogen to give the title six-membered ring species.
