Eine vereinfachte Synthese von CH314CO2H

Abstract
In this method C14O2 is liberated from BaC14O3 with H2SO4 and condensed onto methyl magnesium iodide which is cooled in liquid air. Formation of CH3C14O2MgI is allowed to proceed at room temperature, than decomposed with H2SO4 and the acetic acid distilled over silver sulfate. The method results in practically quantitative yields and takes about 1 hour. The glass apparatus employed is described and illustrated.
