Abstract
O2 consumption of the living rabbit ovary during operation was studied on 13 rabbits by means of the arteriovenous difference method based upon O2 tension measurements. No differences were found between the 3 groups of animals treated with various gonadotropins to produce ovarian symptoms suggestive of estrogen secretory rest, activity and exhaustion. An average O2 consumption of 0.013 [plus or minus] 0.002 [mu][image]/minute per ovary was found. Keywords
