Biotin Content of Blood in Normal Infants and Adults

Abstract
The biotin content of whole blood in normal infants and adults was assayed microbiologically using Lactobacillus plantarum ATCC 8014. The infants were found to have a significantly higher level of biotin in blood than the adults. The values ranged from 14.70 to 55.50 mµg/100 ml (mean 32.38) for infants and from 12.00 to 42.15 mµg/100 ml (mean 25.75) for adults. There was no significant difference between the sexes nor was there any significant interaction between sex and age.
