Abstract
The action of the N=1 spinning string is shown to be the action of simple conformal supergravity in two dimensions. The constraints read R(P)=R(M)=R(D)=R(Q)=0 and τντµϕν= fμν - ½ gμν f = 0, where ϕμ and fμm are the conformal gravitino and boost field. In the N=2 theory, a new gauge field is found which is needed to close the gauge algebra.
