Abstract
We show that the ambiguity in the fluxoid unit in the resonating-valence-bond model arises from the choice of an order parameter which violates a local gauge symmetry. We give an explicit example of a gauge-invariant order parameter, other than electron paris, which possess a nontrivial topology depending upon the lattice. Keywords
