Abstract
Don-C is a cloned strain of the diploid male cell line Don of the Chinese hamster. The chromosomes of this cell strain were analyzed with respect to karyotype, replication pattern, and segmentation pattern. The results indicated that the distal third of the short arm of autosome 1b had been translocated to the Y chromosome. The replication pattern of the autosomal segment in its new position appeared to be unchanged. The relevance of this observation to the theory of Lyon is discussed. Keywords
