Prolonged use of cordarone in an excessive dosage gives rise to a striking photosensitivity of light-exposed skin areas, followed by a slate-like pigmentation. The case report concerns a 54-year-old woman. We could prove that pigment accumulation took place in the light-exposed areas as well as in the not-light-exposed skin areas. Histochemically and electronmicroscopically, this pigment was interpreted as lipofuscin.
