CAROTID ARTERY THROMBOSIS: REPORT OF EIGHT CASES DUE TO TRAUMA

Abstract
These cases followed penetrating wounds involving the neck vessels. A fractured mandible caused by a vehicle accident accounted for one case. The carotid artery in some instances had intimal tears, in others only the adventitia was damaged. Thrombi tended to propagate cephalad and involve the internal carotid artery and its branches.
