Abstract
Currently available ampuled inulin contains up to 50% yeast fermentable material, which is presumed to be filterable but appears only partially in the urine. Expts. on anesthetized dogs demonstrate creatinine/ inulin clearance ratios slightly less than when all samples of plasma and urine are yeasted. Ratios calculated from the same samples analyzed without yeasting sometimes exceeded 1. 2. Yeast treatment of all samples of plasma and urine is essential to obtain accurate measurements of glomerular filtration using commercial inulin preparations. Yeasting procedures are described. Keywords
