Variations in Human Placental Alkaline Phosphatase

Abstract
The variations were studied in population samples from Sweden, Greece and Nigeria and in Swedish twin samples. The frequencies of the alleles Plf, Pi* and Pls determining the 6 standard phenotypes show marked regional variations. A series of rare phenotypes were described. One twin pair showing absence of placental alkaline phosphatase was concordant for Dysostosis cranio-facialis (Crouzon).
