Abstract
A detailed examination of various soils near New Brunswick, New Jersey, and near Logan, Utah, was made, primarily to determine to what extent protozoa are either numerically or qualitatively comparable with those in English soils. Results indicated that the protozoan fauna is very similar in all soils, and that their numbers are roughly related to bacterial numbers. Counts during the winter showed that severe frost does not diminish the protozoal population. DIMASTIGELLA with D. trypaniformis*(p. 117) (Zoomastigoda, Cryptobiidae) from new Jersey and Utah; and description of Hyperamoeba sp.
